Continuing Professional Development Programme

Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) Programme for Registered Dentists will launch on 1 July 2026.

The Dental Council has been running a voluntary Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) Programme for Practising Dentists since 2002. Under the amended Dentists Registration Ordinance (“DRO”), the fulfilment of CPD requirements has become a pre-requisite for all dentists and Dental Care Professionals (including dental hygienists and dental therapists) to obtain or renew their practising certificates. The Dental Council is empowered to determine the CPD requirements pursuant to section 11A(2A) of the DRO for this purpose. With effect from 1 July 2026, the CPD requirements are applicable to registered dentists with full registration, limited registration and special registration.

Please refer to the Guidelines on Mandatory CPD Programme for Registered Dentists for details.
