Licensing Examination
Eligibility for Application
The eligibility criteria for taking the Licensing Examination are that at the time of the application, an applicant –
- has satisfactorily completed not less than 4 years’ full time dental training of a type approved by the Council; and
- is the holder of a dental degree or a dental qualification acceptable to the Council.
The Council may, on application, allow a person to take the Licensing Examination or the part of the Licensing Examination if –
- the prescribed fee has been paid;
- the Council is satisfied that the person is of good character; and
- the eligibility criteria set by the Council is satisfied.
The Dental Council may refuse to allow a person to take the Licensing Examination if the person has, in any one part of the Licensing Examination, failed 5 times.
The Council has issued the “Competences for the Hong Kong Dentists” which acts as a blueprint on standards requiring for the LE of the Council.
